Why valves?
In audio applications valves
continue to be highly desirable. Valve amplifiers behave differently from
transistor amplifiers and produce different tonal qualities. Some people like
the elegant designs and the glow made by the tubes, but more importantly valve
amplifiers produce a warmer, more natural sound.
There are many theoretical reasons
why valve amplifiers may sound better, especially biased in class A, which is
the most linear class of operation and produces only about 1/100,000 parts
(minus 50dB) distortion.
Most importantly it is personal
choice.
